2-3 hundred???? I got a raise of closer to 400 per week!!!

As for checking fuel prices, I live on the internet. I have a smartphone and always check fuel stops along the route. As Alan said, I fuel almost exclusively at TA and Love's for all of the reasons he stated. I won't even TEST Flying J fuel in this ProStar. I gained .5 mpg in the old 9900 when I quit using Flying J fuel and never turned back.

Also, I will look at alternate routes and check fuel prices along that way also. Sometimes it may be worth it to go 40 or 50 miles out of the way for the fuel savings. I had an example of that several months ago. There was a TA that was 40 miles out of the way that was drastically cheaper than anything else along the original route. I actually SAVED nearly $50 by going out of the way. As I stated before, even trying to think ahead backfires every once in a while. It has happened to me currently. I got enough fuel to avoid paying extra up here in Pennsylvania, planning on fueling in southern Virginia on my way out. They had me do some weird running up here and I will have no choice but to purchase some high priced fuel before I get to cheaper stuff. It happens.

I had the hood down to a science. First dock I had with the ProStar I really struggled. I kept wanting to compensate. I could get my hood in the tightest spots possible. As I get more used to maneuvering this truck, it gets easier. I still have a habit of looking for the hood....

I think I figured out that if you gain just 1 mpg, you could take home an xtra $1300.00 + a month. I ain"t a mathematician so someone plz tell me if this is correct way to calculate this little thought.....

    ---------------

15000 miles per month divided by 5 mpg = 3000 gallons of fuel used

    3000 gals of fuel x $2.75 per gallon = $8250.00 fuel cost

    ---------------
    NOW...
    ---------------

15000 miles divided by 6 mpg = 2500 gals of fuel used

    2500 gals of fuel x $2.75 per gallon = $6875.00 fuel cost
    ---------------

    $8250.00 - $6875.00 = $1375.00 MORE PROFIT !! TAKE HOME PER MONTH

Blue, your spot on! Also you can cap your maint. account at $5000 and pocket the rest if you want. That can add another $1000 a month as well.

LMB, I just want to point out that I did mention the driver. I didn't have to work too hard with the Pete but some of the drivers that come here have never had to drive a large car and don't know all the tricks to them when they head out. The swift driver that started with my class didn't know how to shift a 13 speed, and I'm sure never drove a hood. I'm not saying there bad drivers...... Just lacking in "know how".

Good math, Blue, but check these numbers out. These are using numbers that I used when helping to make the decision to upgrade. Imagine average fuel economy of 5.3 mpg. (about my old average) I covered 171,631 miles this year. My average fuel cost for the year was 2.517. Those are the numbers I'm going to use for this example.
32,383 gallons of fuel by 2.517 = $81,508 in fuel cost.
Now what I would have done with what I'm getting on the ProStar, which is 6.6 mpg.
26,004 gallons of fuel by 2.517 = $65,452 in fuel cost.
That equates to an ANNUAL pay raise of $16,056. Not a bad little raise, eh?

I just did a quick review of what I posted and found it amusing. You said an average of 15,000 miles per month, and my actual was about 14,302. You came up with an increase in pay of about $1375 per month. My figures came in at $1338 per month. That REALLY just double emphasizes your math, doesn't it?

Sheesh I said at least 2-3 hundred. I know 400 is easily done depending on the driver. I aimed lower cuz you know there will b someone that claim they can't get that much and say that all this is bs. And both your calc and panhandles are both correct :)

Now to those of yall "cowboys" out there. If yall can't get as good of mpg as lmb does out of his classic and also complain you aint making money then u should think of a better fuel economy trk. Or adjust your driving habits.

So ya'll made money with fuel, how about the increase in truck payment? If you figure that in, what does it do to the equation then? Not being a smart###, just wondering.

Trk payment will be around 580 plus a side note of about 120 for a year. Now an older trk will be around 490-540 so the fuel savings still outweigh it
