I have 3 mos. OTR, 3mos regional (8 states), and 3 mos. exp. locally. I live in north central ohio with the worst unemployment rate in Ohio. I have been seeking a driving job for over a year now. Have been to all local companies and several online seeking a driving job. Have good MVR and DAC records, no tickets, felonies, accidents, and cannot get hired because they all want over two years experience or their insurance won't cover me. Which is comprehensible. I cannot afford to be O/O and I am ready to throw in the towel on ever driving truck again. Some companies have told me I haven't driven for too long of a period. I cannot afford to go back to trucking school. I have a Class A license with 6 mos. dry van and 3 mos. dump box. Is a driver ever going to "forget" how to drive? How would I get "experience" when no one is or will hire me? I also have a jack russell terrier that must go with me as I live alone and have no one to board him. He travelled regionally with me and travelled well and truck was spotless. This presents a problem with many companies. Of course if I drive locally, he stayed home as I was home every night.
