Ok so we recently purchased a flatbed trailer and we looked into replacing all the tires on the trailer before starting our journey. Our trailer has 24.5 tires on it. The tire company says that what sizes farmers use and only has them in roadmaster. Tire guy also says flatbeds over the road generally take 22.5. So my question is what is pros and cons of me sticking with 24.5 tire.
1 pro is we would not have to switch out rims if we stayed with 24.5 tire.
Flatbed tire size question?

Yes I purchased a brand new RGN w/roadmasters on them earlier this year w/ 22.5's. Just run a 24.5 low profile. The 24.5 tall rubber has been extremely hard to find on my end, so I went with a lo pro 24.5 on the truck last month.

Call around for bandag caps

get low pros, dont get talls, doesnt matter if its 24 or 22
Got a price of 311$ each from pomps in indy
Theyre a very good tread pattern for spread, probably the best, and are usually bridgestone/michelin casings
A pro to the shorter tire (22s) is that you get slightly more winch clearance.
They will run SLIGHTLY faster than 24s, thus building heat a fractional amount faster, thats relatively negligible though.
24s will roll over things better and be ever so slightly smoother.
And as i said before, get low pros no matter what, on a spread trailer, youll have tire scrub and thats no good for lifespanLast edited: Oct 26, 2021

I run H rated tall 24s on everything. Finding anything seems to be a challenge right now. Ground clearance is important when you leave paved surfaces. Also they ride better because you can run less PSI in them and I think they flat out look better too.
