Like to figure out what the heck my main paint color is too.. Visit to FreightShaker is in order.. Told the girl at the title office it was light orange!! Lmao
For a brief moment thought I had a good find under the the bunk, but after a quick read this spec card is not for my truck.. Vin, year, wheelbase, engine, trans, & rears, don't match what I got.. Was told by the guy I bought it off Pinky has a similar painted sister truck, but I doubt tan is my actual color.? Think'n the original buyer of both trucks put the wrong warranty paperwork in each truck..

If they're all bigger reels, cradle each one with racks and 4x4s, with a bunch of smaller reels, cradle the ends, set the middle ones straight on the deck butted up against each other. That's how every place I've been to does it, and it's fine by me, works great.
This load was two big reels and 13 smaller reels, the big reels were 8' diameter the smaller 5'. They would not allow me to use my racks and 4x4s, had to be their way. Their way was to nail crappy 2x4s to the deck and then load the reels. All the rows of the smaller reels had a 2-3" gap in between, so we would need 2 securement points for each row.
They tried to say one strap through the middle was all that was necessary. According to my understanding, that's not the case when there is a gap. And now that I think about it, 2x4s under 8' reels isn't something I'm comfortable with either. -
So when are you heading out on your maiden run? Did you already stick your trailer behind it to make sure all is good.cke, Lostkeys, Brettj3876 and 6 others Thank this.

Find the other truck and swap spec cards, LOL. If it were only that easy. Shot in the dark, but look under the seat cushion and the seat backs, years back, they would put the spec sheets there..cke, Lostkeys, Brettj3876 and 6 others Thank this.

Don't she know. Spitters are quitters?
Asking for my fiance.

Ah ok... I’m not too far off then LOL. I think the biggest ones we carry are 6’ diameter. I always make sure the rows are touching each other and I usually only cradle the ends (I do the 2x4 on the deck method). Sometimes I won’t even bother with a cradle on the back row if I have heavy pallets to put behind the reels. I only haul locally so I can’t really waste too much time, but obviously I still gotta make it safe. Also If I have a big load I will single chain the inside rows and pull each chain toward the center of the trailer.
I have seen guys bring loads in to us with them spaced apart and only a strap through each row like you mentioned... they always have nice heavy cradles under them but idk, that doesn’t seem right to me either.cke, Lostkeys, Brettj3876 and 5 others Thank this. -
I try to picture in my mind what would happen if a piece of securement fails. If they're all against each other with everything pulling to the middle, and a strap or chain fails, the rest of it is very likely to hold that real in place. If there is space between them, the day could get really bad.
The other things I consider, what would a DOT cop do if he was a real prick, and if there was an accident, could my securement be called into question by some jacktard lawyer. -
Got my cab card yesterday, & had to get another new title because the girl put TK on there instead of TR.! Apparently that's an issue for the IRP folks around here..?
Still wait'n on truck lettering & my new vin # isn't showing up on my IFTA account yet. Getting 2021 ifta decals is gonna be a pain.. Probably just gonna bounce under the cover of darkness up to Tugs so I can get started on that coolant leak, & grab my other 2 drive tires..
I can sort of operate a wrench, but need someone within earshot so when I inevitably get in over my head on this project I can be told, "wtf are you doing!!" Get sidetracked easily too.. Lmao
Speaking of which I bumped the trailer & could tell immediately the mudflaps & hangers had to go. Pulled them off, but forgot to hook on again to double check. Lol Tomorrow.. -
Man there is lots and lots of bullhaulers up here in the northwest lately. There must be a big sale or something? Or maybe just moving cows for the winter? I obviously dont know how any of that works. But i sure am enjoying watching all the pimped out trucks
cke, Lostkeys, Brettj3876 and 12 others Thank this. -
You need to find a closer shop. Get up here tonight and I'll meet you over there....lol I'm in Effingham now. Deliver in Decatur in the am.
Getting anything done at a govt office these days sucks. When I was doing my title.....Boise lost it, for 3 months!cke, Lostkeys, Brettj3876 and 8 others Thank this.
