This should serve as notice to anyone looking to buy a truck and not sure on brand or power train. This truck has served me well with minimum downtime and cheaper bills than other manufacturers. 10064000 miles and the DD15 has never been opened up except for overheads and only aftertreatment issues although those have been space. A good apu is critical for these newer engines.
Do you truckers love your truck?

1064405 to be exact, I don't actually have a billion + miles on my truck! Flimsy fingers are to blame for that one.
Rideandrepair and bzinger Thank this. -
Sparce, not space.
Rideandrepair and bzinger Thank this. -
owner operators with preemissions motors typically dont have those troubles. Never at the dealer, truck payed off, turn their own wrenches. pure profits. Not all but most. So most the time, yeah they love their trucks and take pride in their ride. Why? because their beloved beuty is bringing home 1/4 mil a year with no bs and no problems like you listed.Dustyroads38, Speed_Drums, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this.

This is my Freightliner .
there are many like it, but this one is mine.
My Freightliner is my best friend. It’s my life.
I must master it as I master my life.
With out me my Freightliner is useless.
With out my Freightliner , I am useless.
I must drive my Freightliner true.
I must drive straighter than the four wheelers who are trying to run me off the road.
I must drive around them before they kill me.
My Freightliner and I know what counts on the highway is not the miles we drive, the noise of the Jake nor the smoke we make.
We know that it’s the dollars that count.
My Freightliner is human, even as I because it is my life.
Thus, I will learn it as a brother.
I will learn it’s weaknesses, it’s strengths, it’s parts, it’s a accessories, it’s transmission and it’s brakes.
I will keep my Freightliner clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready.
We become part of each other.
Before god, I swear this creed.
My Freightliner and I are defenders of the country.
We are masters of the highways.
We are saviors of my life.Dustyroads38, Mohtrucker, Rideandrepair and 7 others Thank this. -
Compare that to your paycheck at the time.
I want a realistic apples to apples comparison, cause 15$ wont even cover 1 wheel now, much less 6 or 10 axles... and that was a few years ago, havent even looked recently.201, Rideandrepair, Trucker Carlton and 2 others Thank this. -
With the shop you have to play with, id be much happier playing with my truck.JoeyJunk, Rideandrepair, Trucker Carlton and 2 others Thank this.

Unfortunately those preemission trucks are 5 mpg trucks while new trucks are 8mpg. That's a HUGE savings per month. Has me contemplating a new one solely for that reason. I like looking good, but I like money a hell of a lot more. So time to compromise hopefullybwith w990Last edited: Oct 30, 2021
