That wooden block is a step too far to my way of thinking but a few orange cones should be the first thing deployed in any service truck rescue. if they happen to have flashing lights that may do damage on the 4th or 5th one then oh darn you had 3 warnings.
Move over, slow down, or else……????

Yeah, what happens when you move over and slow down in traffic?
Everyone behind you is looking at you wondering why you just did something stupid and are now trying to pass on the right completely oblivious to what is on the shoulder until it's too late to do anything about it.
You move over and keep going. Let someone else plug things up and make a mess.LTL Bull Thanks this. -
He’s lucky someone didn’t hit said block of wood it would quickly become a projectile.
Dave_in_AZ and Tall Mike Thank this. -
Had a 4 wheeler on the phone push me to the shoulder on I 24 at the Kentucky border, ###hole kept coming over while I laid on the horn, hit a 6×6 on the shoulder and tore off 2 air lines on trailer! Put triangles out and waited for service, 80% of big trucks who had time to move over didn't! ####### #######es! What is wrong with these MORONS?
Tall Mike, just_sayin and LTL Bull Thank this. -
Couple days ago, I saw the same thing. 4x4 sitting upright, about three or four feet into the travel lane. And on a curve! This was coming from MT to TX, so I wasn't on the same road as you. Makes me wonder if this is going to be more commonplace. Awesome way to cause a wreck.
Dave_in_AZ, Magoo1968, LTL Bull and 1 other person Thank this. -
Good on you for paying attention big objects can really year some stuff up glad it was as minor as that.
Too bad it wasn't the ####### that hit the blockGod prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
That service guy is opening himself up to alot of potential liability doing that. Sometimes you just can't get over no matter how hard you try, mostly due to ignorant/a-hole 4-wheelers and semi truck drivers. Heck, a few months ago I moved over to the center lane to avoid a breakdown and this big Pete behind me cuts over and blows past me on the blind side. Which was utterly stupid because there's no hammer lane restriction for big trucks on that particular stretch of highway. Imagine if he clipped that wood, blew a tire, and lost control? I'd be suing both the semi truck driver and that roadside company for big $$$.
Dave_in_AZ, God prefers Diesels and LTL Bull Thank this. -
This is kind of what I was fishing for. It’s like the folks going down the road with left leg up on the dash or the cab curtain being pulled forward to obscure the drivers door window. Never saw either at all then started seeing more and more then all of a sudden it seems like every third truck is doing it. I hope the block standing up in the travel lane is not going to become a “thing”. FWIW, the guy that chucked the washers at cars says he only did it to the obviously inattentative driver that could move but didn’tDave_in_AZ, God prefers Diesels and Magoo1968 Thank this.

That’s why when I move over
I only move over half a lane.
I give the people on the shoulder some room , but don’t leave enough space for the idiot behind me to pass on the right .God prefers Diesels, Hotplate and just_sayin Thank this. -
i agree. if anyone was unable to move over, due to other vehicles being in the way, and that yutz threw either that block of wood, or those steel washers and an accident happened, i'd like to see the service worker charged. who the hell is he to be the traffic god..???
i understand that every year service workers get hurt or killed on our highways, but to do something as stupid at throw things at vehicles or into the roadway, needs to be addressed as well with the law enforcement community, and the courts.Dave_in_AZ, Magoo1968 and beastr123 Thank this.
