Before you go through with that plan ask how many members here were able to leave a company after 6 months and find a better company .

Rick G are you saying get my learning from a big company ? Or am i on the right track in ref to what i am looking for ?
-
My understanding is that you are going to go to a private school instead of a company school. If that is the case, then yes Kenny you are on the right track.
Start mapping out or making a plan for your success, don't just leave it to chance. Do your best in school and learn all you can.
Realize, that going to school and getting your cdl only earns you the right to begin to learn to be a trucker.
I am not a fan of thebig mega carriers so I stay away from them. Do some searching and you can find all the companies aroung the area you are moving. Go in and apply, I applied to companies right out of school that required 1 year or more of experiences, got turned away and tuned down, but that is also how I got my start. I stared with a good small company and got treated well and well trained. So go for it.
I am glad your wife is on board and supporting. Trucking can be a big adjustment for a couple, but it doesn't have to be a bad one. Your wife has kind of a double whammy with moving to a new state and her husband entering into trucking. Again, it doesn't have to be a bad thing, it would be good for her to find an avenue of support. We have a lot of trucker wives here that offer support and valuable information to new trucker wives.
Good luck to you. I too wanted to be a trucker for awhile and finally started the journey. I do regret it at all, I am loving it. -
You're doing it the best way . I'm just saying it wasn't like it was a few years ago with drivers moving around from company to company . The odds are slim of being to leave after 6 months or even a year so don't settle for a company figuring you won't be there long .
