Y'know, Tennessee was on my short list until me and Missus Skillet stayed a couple days around Chattanooga on our last road trip.
I figure ya gotta get away from the population centers, but TN is on Missus Skillet's "no-go" list, based on Chattanooga.LoSt_AgAiN, dwells40, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this. -

Lol, that’s so funny!! I know exactly why. We went there, planning on getting married. Took a wrong turn,( following signs to I-75) and ended up on a dead end street, with jersey wall blocking it off, right next to the Projects. Looked like a set up for sure. Hi tailed it to the Smokey’s. There’s so many nice areas though. North of there, up to 40, Dunlap, Sparta, Smithville, North of 40, Cookeville, Baxter, Cartage, Gainesboro, Livingston, Jamestown, all the way up to Celina, near Ky line. New road cuts up to 65 in Bowling Green, or Somerset, up to Lexington or over to 75. A bit off the beaten path for Trucking, but also in a good cross section. The area is stuck in time. Same as up 81 from White Pine to Bristol. On either side of the Interstate. South of Knoxville, Marysville, and Alcoa are nice too. North of Knoxville, Rocky Top, and Clinton. There’s so places to consider. Most part folks are very friendly and welcoming. She might just fall in love with the right place. A good mix of small town, with enough new building and growth. Worth a second look. No State income tax, Low property taxes. High sales tax. Good Biscuits and gravy. What’s not to Love?DrFlush, LoSt_AgAiN, dwells40 and 8 others Thank this.
