I know its lame but I dont work when it's icy or snowy. The loads don't pay enough for the added risk

Exactly, most people run in the snow not factoring in danger. A slip on the road could be costly for years added insurance cost, repairs, etc. Depending where your at running while it is dry is an option. A couple of years ago the wreck on I 80 should be a good reminder. A YouTube video of the incident you could see and hear trucks sliding and crashing for about 4 minutes.

I don't know. I would guess less chance as the rims can still drop and hit pavement. Maybe someone that has actual experience can have a better answer.

It would be mostly for looks since the extra weight capacity is not needed as already mentioned. The whole front drive axle could probably be deleted on a truck like that but I wouldn't mess with that. Those tandem drive sets are meant to work together and would not be a strong as a factory spec single drive with a big 22-23k rating if you just chopped the tandem set in half.

I don't like running my rig in the worst part of winter either. Salt wrecks the paint and frame. The cold seems to make seals go bad and cause leaks. Idling to stay warm raises operating expenses. Added danger as you mention...

Testing the limits. 13 ft high. 10.8 mpg from NC - Manheim PA
I'm managing $2 a loaded mile average so far, but this is a very weak market.

I keep mentioning I have 300 gallons of fuel, I was wrong. The ad for the truck says 300 but today I actually checked and it says 120 on each tank.

Sorry,I don't. How do you load the vehicle with slide outs? Have lift higher after car- drive truck up- slide slide out out- and then lower lift a tad ?? Me confused.

The ramp hooks are welded on the slide outs themselves. So closed or open they hold the ramps.
If you zoom in on the top pic on the passenger side extension you will see the ramp hook
