Mine too. She’s had some serious sleep apnea. Lately though it’s gone away, thankfully. Rarely even snoring. I hope it stays that way. Trying to avoid the whole cpap thing. We’ve both lost a few lbs so far, it’s a start.

 

Maybe you'd better take her along for a sleep study too.

Setting with a finger width gap and back fill with more sand.

Sand filled gap works as an expansion joint and helps minimize all your mentioned concerns.

 

Sounds reasonable. Our soil here cracks and gaps so bad in really dry summers. Difficult to keep a brick walk.
