Several truckers on this forum live in a van when not on the road.
Makes it easy to change domicile to a warmer climate and tax-free state.

I imagine you could pile up savings very quickly that way. No rent/mortgage or utilities or furnishings. Get an AirBnB for a few days wherever.

There are only 10 worst parts? How dumb is the author, it turned out that living in a van is like camping. No kidding, really?

If I wasn’t married I’d be doing seasonal work here in Minnesota and living in my truck then, in a van or small Rv, when I got let go for winter. The fewer things I own the happier I’ve am.

What a total BS article. Everyone here who drives a sleeper tractor who is on the road for more than a few nights knows EXACTLY what it is like to sleep in a van. I did it for 45 years. And sleepers a heck of a lot smaller than hers
Complaining about breakdowns? And you picked an ancient VW Vanagon for your choice of vehicles? How about something larger and more reliable like a Chevy Express.
Complaining about healthcare? And you decide to do this when you have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and Hashimoto's disease.
That's not enough, you decide, and then complain about having to take of a dog and the cost of vet bills
So the changing scenery causes anxiety? Maybe you should have thought about that before you set out.
Oh, and you found out it is lonely on the road and you need companionship.

This brxxd is really too much. A hippy with not an ounce of practical skills or common sense. Really desperate to provide "content" to another useless internet site, in this case the appropriately named Yahoo.

Thousands of people live in vans, small RV's, pickup truck with topper over the bed and do very well. They're happy with the nomadic lifestyle and wouldn't have it any other way. If I wasn't married with a family, I could do that and really bank some money. OTR was a good fit for me; I called the truck my apartment on wheels.

A van would suck,,I have a 28’ motor home, that would be the bare minimum as it has all amenities.
