Been going through numerous videos, forums, the spec sheet I have in hand as well as the KW catalogue.
Is there anything you guys who have ordered Paccar (KW or Peterbilt) trucks come to find out you overlooked during delivery? Hell, even guys who have bought new Freightliners can chime in. I really want to minimize or 0 any "Aw S***" moments before this truck hits the assembly line and into my hands.
Side question: Is custom frame paint from factory of any decent quality? I'm talking at least getting 2-3 years without it flaking? I'm going to get the road salt/chemical resistant clear coat (fairly cheap add on) on the frame regardless of factory black or custom paint. Truck is a KW W9L by the way.

Frame rail paint is the same as the black frames , you just get to choose the color when ordering. Should last more than three years before it starts to chip.OhNoTerry Thanks this.

I hear ya. Some people I talked to questioned the quality of the paint and if it was worth spending the extra $. Going metallic black on the frame if I decide to go that route.

I’ve had the frames painted colors other than black on both new Kenworths I’ve ordered, never saw an issue. I did ask my salesman the first time I ordered, he’s the one that told me the paint is the exact same manufacture, same quality as the black. Paint used on the frames is not the same as what’s used on the body of the truck, he said it is heavier to stand up to the conditions that the undercarriage experiences.OhNoTerry Thanks this.

I didn’t pay any extra for a different color nor any special coatings.

Do you have a delivery date yet? I was just wondering about how long it takes from order to delivery.
larry2903 Thanks this. -
I ordered about 2-3 weeks ago, estimated time is 3rd quarter of next year. I'd check in ASAP if I were you. I only got lucky cause people cancelled their orders due to price increases of their initial orders since the shortage really hit. I think KW gets in contact with you once the truck is about to hit the assembly line.

I did the zinc coating on the rails because they won’t be black. It’s supposed to help with corrosion.
OhNoTerry Thanks this. -
Ironically mine will be metallic black, I know it won’t show much unless you walk by it after a wash but I can’t really choose any other color cause the sleeper is metallic grey.
