Tell you what you do. Dust yourself off and find a smaller company. There are still a few out there and it might not be one with a lot of benefits. Just make sure your fifth wheel isn't all the way back.

aaron- You are soon to be 30. You have 4 yrs. experience. Things will turn around.
One thing is for sure. That is you can not turn back time. What is done is done. Be honest when you apply for new jobs. I bet someone gives you a second chance.

Second chances are for those, who really want it.. If you keep on beating a dead horse about this mishap, you will never get any where..

Aaron, If I have learned anything in my years trucking it is that you will never stop learning to drive a truck. And the day you stop learning, that is the day you need to step out of the cab and walk away from it. I don't think you are there yet.

And the job market is bad right now so if you are having trouble finding a job, it may not all be caused by this accident. One place that seems to always be hiring is companies like Grocers Supply, you would likely have to unload your own trailer by hand but so what? I've done it! think of it as getting paid to get in shape! You do what you have to do, but what else would you do?

How many folks get to say they got paid to watch the sun come up and set in all 48 states? Think of all the truck stop parking lots you get to leak oil (and other things) on. Not everyone gets to say they have left their mark all over this country. No boss standing over you, you can listen to any radio station you want how ever loud you want and all the while watching the towns disappear behind you! Not many people ever get that much freedom. In trucking, you get enough slack in your leash where you can get yourself in trouble...So what? You made a mistake and got in an accident! Big deal! Learn from it and go on. We all know trucking isn't fair, I knew that going in. Most little boys go to sleep with stories of the tree little pigs, I went to sleep with my father telling me stories of driving around the clock and how the old Cummins used to put a two foot flame out of the stack in the higher elevations and you could turn you lights off and drive by the illuminated pillar of exhaust.

C'mon Aaron, we have all made mistakes. I'm missing half my teeth from trying to see if I could drive 24/7, those bullhauler toothpicks will make an old man of you quick. But I raised a family driving, now I have 5 beautiful grandchildren who would like nothing better than to jump into an 18 wheeler with Poppy and hit the road! Just like I did with my dad, and just like my kids did with me.

"Daddy, are we there yet?" "No!"

Don't get discouraged, you'll find some carrier that needs a driver. It may not be the money you want or the benefits you need but it will be a way to leverage yourself back into the game. And be honest, if trucking was all about the money, most of us would have given up a long, long time ago. Give it some time and quit trying to figure it out. You'll be back out there soon and the next time you see a curve like that, I'll bet you will slow down.

I once drove on ice without knowing it, I was passing everyone, didn't have the two way on. I just knew that all these idiots I was passing where out of their minds! 4 wheelers looking at me like I was crazy, trucker trying to stay out of my way and here I was, 23 years old showing the world how superior I was at driving that cabover KW with the HUGE 335 Cummins in it.

Then I stopped on the shoulder to take a leak. I got out of the truck and slipped on the ice and busted my rear! I looked real funny trying to take care of my business with my truck slowly sliding toward me on the passenger side, knowing that I had better hurry up and get back on the road before my truck and I both were in the ditch.....You can bet I got back in that warm cab humbled.

That day I learned I am capable of doing stupid things, but I learned.

It is always best to be a honest person.. The one time you decide to be dishonest, is the one time, it will come back and bite you in the rear...Don't do it, you will regret it later on..
