I've only had the mis-pleasure of stoppig at that Flying J once, and that was when the T/A across the highway was still under construction. I stopped long enough to take a leak and get something to drink. Propsitioned 3 times going to the building and 4 times coming back out. -
west of the Mississippi River outside of Baton Rouge on the I-10. i think there's a Pilot there. stopped at the truckstop once, and at the gas station across the interstate.
when you have a barred up window for transactions after dark, you know you're not in the best neighborhood. -
they are not around anymore but Skelly had to be the absolute winner or the worse there ever was truckstop

No mention of any Houston truck stops? The best/not but not the greatest would be fly J at the 62 on I-45. The worst, Key truck stop, Citco at East Mount Houston on 59, there is a truck stop on Tx-288 south at Almeda-genoa rd with 1-2ft of water over 1/2 of the parking lot, a/c never below 85 degrees. We bought out own fuel tank so we don't have to go these places any more.
I will never stay anywhere south of Robstown in south TX on US-77. -
TA in Montgomery, AL. What a #### hole!
-
It's still there? I thought they would have back filled that landfill by now! I'd go to Jessup before I'd go to Montgomery! -
You forgot about that dump off I-10 east at the Magnolia St. exit in Channelview. -
How about the old Alameda st. truck stop in L.A.?
Now that was the wild west right there!
Ontario used to be wild too when it was the 76 on one side and the T/A on the other and a little fuel stop on the north side of the exit with a dirt lot and all the action you could handle LOL .
Unfortunately I can think of more dumps and dives than I can think of nice places to stop. -
the pilot in denver is a real piece of work. it was finally my first time going in there earlier this morning. after fueling, i noticed the sign at the entrance saying no exit, so i made a u-turn in front of the island, and proceeded the other direction. not seeing any other signs pointing to the actual exit, i made another left and then a quick right, and found myself at some barricades that LOOKED like i could make a right. i was in a jam as soon as i did because it was all barricaded and i could not make a u-turn out of it. i could only go forward. i stopped, tried backing up, and got hung up on the sheet of packed snow and ice. 15mins of rocking back and forth, i finally decided to pull out two sets of tire chains. i laid them down behind the drives, and blindsided out, stopped, picked up the chains, put them back inside the cubby hole, and then backed into a spot to get turned around.
the denver pilot: eff it!marmonman Thanks this.
