are cam bearings something that would normally replaced in an inframe? if so then how do you do it in your yard? dont they have to be pressed into the engine or is that just somethin gas engines require (the bearing being pressed)?

Cam bearings are a good idea on an older engine with a lot of wear, or if something has gone through the engine like metal shavings, or the coolant in the oil and the bearings have some damage. Again with most CATs, ISX you get new cam bearings with a reman head. Detroit S60 cam bearings are a piece of cake to replace, no special tools. Any engine that has cam bearings in the block like a N14, C12 the block has to come out. If the engine is that bad then complete engine replacement is what I would do. But for "normal" inframes you would not replace cam bearing in the block.

In the Series 60 replacing the cam was done as a matter of convenience...It has an overhead cam and virtually has little wear.....

    Yeah..that's up there.....

I wonder how the INT/CATs are going to be on an in-frame.....

It's not so bad if you can go 1 million between rebuilds....

I spent $17,000 on cat550. Replaced turbo, injectors, and water pump along with the inframe.
