Well my truck is a 95 western star it likes to leave its mark when I stop. It’s the diamond and perimeter seals I suspect because of the area it originates. It accumulates wile driving under the engine and when I stop it drips good for a minute and then all but stops. I use between half a gallon up to a gallon per week, but it looks worse. Oh by the way it’s a DD 12.7. So what would the DOT say about it? I’ve heard no big deal and your ###%=D. I do everything myself and have ordered the special tools but really don’t want to do it until motor needs some work. So what’s your thoughts or experiences, thanks
DOT vs oil leak, what are the consequences?

Probably depends on the mood of the inspector, that day.
For me, that don’t bother me one bit. I know some here will jump in my chili, claiming the world will come to end if an engine has even the smallest leak. You know the type, Mother Earth Goya will be forever harmed.feldsforever Thanks this. -
The Dot officers that have mentioned leaks to me are fine until they get dripped on more than 2x...
Anecdotal, but thats more or less the question isnt it?
Personally i dont like any leaks, but they do seem to happen in the worst spots to fix -
Pressure wash weekly or a few cans of brake clean and it should hold off dot until leak gets worse .

Yea I go out of my way to avoid them but they are all around Columbus OH, also not enough truck washes compared to trucks wanting washed. But I clean my mess the best I can

They say something to ya show them you ordered the seals ..then tell them the seals are back ordered and sitting on 1 of the ships waiting to get unloaded
