I'm looking for a new home too after they fired me the other day after 2+ years with them and I suffered by not idling, seeing my breath in the truck when I woke up in the winter ! Sweating in the summer and freezing in the winter ! But, even my suffering didn't count for anything, as well as getting few scales to save them $$, few truck washes to save them $$, going slow when I could to conserve fuel and get great mileage. Not of that matters and it won't save your job because they'll put you on probation and then fire you if you're late with a delivery. Even when things hold you up or delay you that are beyond your control OR Barr-Nunn directions in the Qualcomm are wrong OR if you're sick ........the uncaring, uncompassionate SOB's will terminate you so they can get a new driver that makes less $$ in that seat !!

My beef with Barr-Nunn is very simple...they are full of crap when it comes to hiring.. I'm an O/O and they called me and said that if you'd like to work for us ..."you hired" Well I went to there SC terminal and was SHOCKED to find out that they don't start checking your back ground until you actually sitting in that room... WTF? I asked. And only answer I got was... "This is a company policy." But the fact remains...Guy already left his job and he's here and than they find out something in your background that they don't like..you pretty much SOL.. it is a very irresponsible on there part and shows complete disregard to there drivers..
I'm not going to go in to complaining about miles you guys did it better than I could.2 years of dedication and trkdrvrs get screwed over Thank this. -
I'm shock to see that this company still have drivers. I use to work for these guys, I ran the southeast regional out of Orlando,FL. I was getting more miles that the OTR drivers and i was home every weekend. Stay away from this company unless you like setting and waiting on load. low to no miles and splitting just about every load you get. and you have to love driving at night...FEDX loads can't be late.....if you have bills to pay, this is the wrong company for you.......Merry Christmas to All

i drove for barrnunn back in 2008 and bye far they was the worst i have ever worked for in april of 2008 my wife was put into the hospital due to complications of her pregnancy and i of course stayed home to be with her they refused to pay me my paychecks till i was gone from the house for 2 days so they made a difficult time even harder so i left them they kept 2000.00 dollars of pay they owed me and then sent me a bill for 1200.00 and did even acct for the money they owed me so drivers beware this is a crooked company
2 years of dedication and trkdrvrs get screwed over Thank this. -
I can't believe they took $2000 of your wages and then had the audacity to request $1200 more !! They're crooks, you probably should have sued them ! They are very greedy, I got fired from them last week. I believe they canned me to put a new driver in that truck to save $$. They now hire OTR Drivers w/ Hazmat at 35 cents/ mile , Drivers with years of experience. They now only contribute 1 cent/ mile into a Driver's 401k, and when I got hired it was 2 cents. Drivers at Barr-Nunn have also been made to drive twice as many miles to get an appreciation bonus. Cheap Barr-Nunn also cut the layover pay about a year ago because Drivers were sitting and not moving A LOT, good old low miles and lots of sitting Barr-Nunn!!!trkdrvrs get screwed over Thanks this.

All true, they send guys home from orientation because they didn't check them out first . The Driver needs a job, makes it to one of only 3 Barr-Nunn terminals, and attends orientation. After a short time at orientation, they find something in your background, be it criminal or in your job history. They send you home when they find some little thing in your background, Barr-Nunn is extremely fussy about who they hire. Of course they don't tell you this before you go to orientation, they'd rather just discard you after you get there and waste a Driver's time ! Barr-Nunn should do their homework first instead of wasting Drivers time and $$. Bottom line, Barr-Nunn has little regard for Drivers, they think we're a dime a dozen, and has no respect for Drivers. They fire Drivers all the time and their turnover rate is very high !!trkdrvrs get screwed over Thanks this.

You better hope you don't have to stop for the bathroom or a fuel stop on a FedEx load, hope you don't hit a traffic jam either. If you do stop, you'll deliver late, there's no extra time, and you'll be fired !!! You have to run at full speed, with no delays or stops, and barely make it on time. If you don't deliver on time, even if the delay is beyond your control, they'll fire you, they have no respect for Drivers !
You're right about getting more miles being a regional Driver as compared to an OTR Driver because you made less $$ per mile. With Barr-Nunn, it's all about the $$, they're extremely greedy !! You're also right about all the split loads, they split LOTS of loads out so that they save $$ by not having to pay either Driver the extra band pay $$. Split loads or repower loads don't receive the extra $$ you'd normally receive on a short length of load less than 550 miles. They split the loads so that neither Driver gets the extra pay, Barr-Nunn is cheap and greedy and you'll sit A LOT with small paychecks too !
Happy New Year !! Hopefully with any company other than Barr-Nunn !!trkdrvrs get screwed over Thanks this. -
Granted, my first experience with Barr-Nunn was in greatly different times, but, back then they were awesome!
I drove for them for 14 months in 2000-2001. All condo Freightshakers, great freight and enough miles to be comfortable with. My truck only shut off for fuel, no matter the weather, and I got home all but 4 weekends in that time. They were A+ rate at that time. I only left them then due to family issues.
Then, after a few years, divorce, other jobs, locusts, and getting tired of the company I was with at that time, I made "The BIG Mistake!"
Using my knowledge of them from before, I decided I would try them again! Sure, I saw the equipment change, the fact that they were still running trailers from 7 years ago, etc......
BUT, I figured, what the heck.
I signed on again with them in April, 2008.
I'll sum this up as quickly as possible. Giving them 7 months of my life was such a WASTE!
Clearly, as with almost every company in existence, once the "old man" steps down, it goes to ######! Really low miles, equipment is crap, dispatch=crap, safety=joke, maintenance=there was maintenance?
I only stayed with them for 7 months because an "insider" told me that beyond 6 months, I wouldn't be back-charged all those "fees" for orientation, checks, and such that everyone seems to get nailed with. So 7 was a "beyond billable" time frame. Never did get those charges, and I got all my pay. With ONE exception.
The whole time I was with them, they took my state taxes out for THE WRONG STATE! Seems they used some of my old info for payroll instead of comparing a rehire's stats to see if there were any differences. This was caught after the year was over (Yes, I should have caught it earlier, but I'm a dufus. You live and learn!) I am still trying to get that mess straightened up.
Alas, what was at one time a great company, has like so many others, become garbage. Wouldn't surprise me if they pulled an Arrow Trucking style move on their drivers.
If they folded, all I'd have to say is "good riddance".
Just my 2 pesos.trkdrvrs get screwed over Thanks this. -
I’m on probation with Barrnunn now. They definitely are all about the money. I’ve been forced to run overweight, I’ve been blamed for being overtime on my clock but they def didn’t mind it when I was overtime delivering a ups load. Trucking is tough, but I need a little more respect.

Well, maybe put ur foot down and say "NO!!!!, it's my license, my lively hood, fire me now or shut up and let me do my job." And if they fire u have them send it threw the Qualcomm and tell them where the truck is, with the trailer since you are no longer an employee with the company and take pictures of the messages. So if you get dinged for abandonment, u can get it removed and take them to the cleaners for defamation too.
