Hey pennsy--That's max final take-home. After taxes, after health insurance deductions, and after adding tarping, Canada, New York, et cetera. I average about $450 take-home with my particular set of deductions/additions.

Tarp pay mostly balances out the time you spend strapping and covering the load that you could have spent driving. If you're efficient, it's a good deal.

The easiest way to compare or estimate pay is by miles, multiplied by cents per mile. Everything else is variable.

I don't know. All I know is that Rick Roehl made the announcement that they were reorganizing. Instead of reefer being with flatbed, it would be moved to van and headed by Ray Gabriel. They had hired someone from Arrow to head up the flatbed/curtainside division. Next thing you know Arrow shuts down just before Christmas and leaves all of their drivers stranded.

That really makes me feel uneasy.. :biggrin_25513: Might not be a big deal but after the whole Arrow catastrophe I just really don't know what to think. So what did the former Arrow exec. do at Arrow??

With a wife, five children, and great care. We live cheap, don't go to restaurants, have low utilities, live way out in the country, and so on.

I'm a vegetarian so food costs little for me.

In my area that's all that's available, so I'm watching the economy and considering other options in the trucking industry.

Sounds like your making it work for you. But wow, that must be a challenge. I left Roehl after 8 months because of those low wages. Bounced over to Barr-Nunn for a year and half. Had my 2 years exp.,and landed a dedicated local job hauling toyota parts.
So it should get better for you,as you get more exp. Good Luck!

Wow, a vegetarian! Me too!! :biggrin_25514:
But that money Uncle Roehl pays me that is not enough.
There a are good weeks, and there are weeks that plainly put me well down below poverty.

    Like this week.
Sitting from 12/31 and next load picks up Sunday 1/3 for 300 milles

This year resolution: find another job !!!
