Trying to find a good match if that still exists. I'm not a job hopper.
Basically looking for dry van company with terminal in 100-mile radius around Chattanooga, TN that doesn't require going NE and let driver take 7 days off after 3 months on the road... Seems to be hard to find.
Have called 20 or more companies, visited almost all of them but so far nothing seems workable to me.
Crete so far has the kind of routes and hometime I am looking for and offers a 2 week driving with a trainer which might be helpful even though it might be a challenge if I survive living in a truck with another human being... :biggrin_25523:
Nevertheless, I am very reluctant to apply for them because of their micromanaging, their fuel solution, the opti-idle, no APU, no window in the sleeper, their darn hair test... :biggrin_1square1: I suspect that will be too much sacrifice and I will regret my decision very soon...
So, I'm still searching for other companies and still hopeful...
    @Chinatown, can you help me?
I was going to post a list of the companies I visited and/or called and the ones I checked the website but the lists are too long, so I will not.
I thank you and/or anybody here for any company you can refer me to. :)

    austinmike Thanks this.

Are OTR carriers not doing 1 day home for 7 days out anymore? I figured if you stay out for 3 months you should be able to take a week and a half off, if you were so inclined.

And as far as the hair test, well, when interviewing for a new job it never hurts to look sharp, and that includes a fresh haircut.

Good luck with your job search.

Hey @RockinChair ... thanks for the "good luck"
What happens is that OTR companies operate in the NE, and the ones that don't go to NE send drivers home on weekends and don't offer 7 days off.
I found a couple companies that might offer 7 days off if I stayed 3 months out but one required driver to lift 80 lbs off the ground, even though it's 100% no touch freight and the other said they don't use prepass and route trucks around scales which I don't want...
Another one said that depending on my relationship with dsp, it might be possible to get 4 or more days off after 3 months on the road, but I would have to occasionally bring load to the end of the trailer... they pull heavy loads n I will not touch load other than secure it with straps and load locks.
The hair.... well, I am a lady with beautiful long hair all the way to my hips n don't like to have it cut anywhere...
When I work, I braid my hair so it's not in the way n I always look very presentable, clean, neat and professional. :)

BTW, the hair has to be cut as close to the scalp as possible... :biggrin_1square1:

Might want to consider adding no forced dispatch to your expectations.

    Good luck.

Did you look into Danny Herman, FCC, and Freightworks?

Oh yeah... no forced dispatch... that is included in my list of 77 questions... :biggrin_25523: And I talk with at least one dsp to get a "feeling" before I commit to orientation...
But I am looking for companies that offer southeast regional or at least don't go to places I dont want to go.
For 11 yrs I ran 48 states doing broker loads n dedicated but for now I want southeast regional.
Danny Herman... I checked their website, not much info... their yard is very far from me n that wouldn't work... also read some reviews and found many complaints about pay, mileage and brokedown....
FCC seems to be a very good company, very well maintained equipment. But didn't find a southeast regional and no terminal here in TN... But will call to make sure.
Freightworks is in NC and no terminal around here either.
Last company I drove for let me bring truck for hometime... but I had to rent a safe parking place for my vehicle/ truck. Place is not available any more... difficult to find another one...
