Expectation of privacy is when I go “off duty” or in the sleeper berth. Or anytime I’m not operating the equipment that is in fact my home. If it’s not my home that I should be home sleeping in my bed every night, right? Anyhow the minute and I mean the second that duty status switches that camera goes off. It’s none of their business. If they want to make it their business they have to pay me all night

I put a dirty sock over mine. Easy to remove if needed, obviously does no harm to the device.

If you really think they’re watching you aside from when there’s an incident, like literally turning the camera on and sitting there spying on you? Honestly all bets are off at that point and I would scare the living hell out of them. Make them think perhaps your demon possessed, I do a great imitation of Jack Nicholson in the famous bathroom shining seen when he sticks his head through the axed door. Make faces frequently. Perhaps speak in a fake foreign language. Or heavy accent, freak them out. Make them never want to view you again. Lol pick your nose, look at it, then eat it. That works as well too. I know holding our cell phones is illegal while driving down the roads but it’s holding something else? Lol you get the idea.

My company has over 500 drivers, and a safety staff of maybe three full time people, who undoubtedly spend their working time dealing with actual accidents and incidents. They might be checking in if my truck’s nanny gear tell them I’m speeding or following too closely (which is rare), but none of them are watching my chubby middle-aged self get undressed for bed.

Tape a piece of cardboard in the missing spot, tell them the sun was in your eyes

So which topic is worse, discussing how to delete emissions or how to vandalize someone else's property?

    Pamela1990 and tarmadilo Thank this.

In your story the only proof you need it was the outside camera. The inside camera is only there for one reason and one reason only to pass blame on to the driver or potential blame. And for the company to get out of paying bonuses. They run the numbers and it’s a cash cow for the safety department at trucking companies. It serves no other purpose.
You’re also comparing apples to oranges. Anyone in any other job goes home. Truckers live on their trucks for weeks if not months at a time. They are entitled to privacy.
Again, I have no issues with the driver facing camera if it is limited to while I i’m actually actively driving. But the minute I stopped that truck that inside camera needs to shut off.

trucking companies say they only use it when it automatically goes off during an incident but I have found through my own research that that is a complete lie. Read the fine print of what you sign. It tells you right there they can and do and will watch you anytime they want. Why do they need to lie? just tell potential drivers the truth, will be at home eating popcorn watching your ### while you were on our truck. Those that are OK with that will work for you and those that aren’t won’t.

And again many trucking companies have been sued over this topic. Because they lie. That’s how they get sued.

It's kind of hard to claim "expectation of privacy" when they obviously left the curtains open.
