No problem.
I have sent the info you requested. Good luck! -
January has been pretty slow over here. Since we lost our regular run to Miami Florida we have been running random loads. 1 to 2 loads per week down to Ellenwood Ga and the rest... catch as catch can, back up into the northeast.
Miles for us have been fluctuating between a low of 2800 miles to a high of 4400 miles. Not sure how well the other drivers are doing.
Roadrunner in Conley Ga has canceled several loads on us at the last minute (just like they did last Winter) stranding drivers in the Atlanta area over the weekend. From the sounds of it we will not be accepting orders from Roadrunner on Fridays anymore. They are too unreliable.
I spoke with Lee Brooks last week and asked him about the older equipment we are still using. According to him we are leasing trucks from NEMF and have to try to keep them on the road until NEMF (the parent company) decides to purchase newer equipment to replace them.
On a personal note, My wife's female Doxie "Minnie" got hurt last week. While pulling out of the Pilot in Atlanta Ga I drove through some pretty rough pot holes causing the truck to buck pretty badly. She was sitting on the floor at the time and got some pretty sharp jolts to her spine causing a back injury. The poor little thing has lost use of her rear legs. We took her to an emergency vet on the road who gave her some medicine but only time will tell if she will regain the use of her legs. Dachsunds are pretty prone to this type of injury but it is still devastating to see a beloved pet go through this.
According to Lee we had a "former" driver that allowed his pet to soil the passenger seat and mattress in his truck. This driver has effectively ruined the chances of any new drivers bringing along their pets on the road. Senior drivers that already have them will be allowed to keep their pets. -
It's 02-05-2010 and i got a call to go to eastern. jlkk can you give me an update on the freight right now? I'm out of the Brooklyn,NY area
i only have 18 month experience, so getting a local gig is a little hard.Last edited: Feb 5, 2010

Chances are they would expect you to park the truck in NJ while you are working. As for the miles it all depends on the week and area you are in. I have heard of some solo drivers still turning over 3000 miles per week (dedicated line haul from Irwin Pa to Chicago Il) and some others struggling to hit 2000 miles.
If you can get your foot in the door and learn the system here thru the Winter it could put you in a position to make more money thru the busy time (Spring thru Fall).
Just remember here it is all about time management and turning as many loads as possible per day (within the allotted 14 hour work window). Gary (the safety guy) is a real stickler for HOS. -
well i live in Brooklyn so that's not a problem that's actually good, i have no where to park in Brooklyn anyway. they told me i would be doing otr, i ask if there was any other positions and they said no
i thought you guys did line haul, so i could be home at night. -
The parent company NEMF does the linehaul stuff. They are an LTL carrier but have shut down some terminals and laid off some drivers so I doubt they have any job openings right now.
Eastern does fill in on occassion when there are more loads to cover than NEMF has drivers to cover.
Eastern is a non union truckload subsidiary which focuses on the northeast. NEMF does send Eastern on the routes that go out of their operating area such as Chicago Il and Georgia but those loads are usually shipped to a partner carrier such as AAA Cooper who will strip the trailer and make the local deliveries themselves.
Other than the above most freight is 1 live load and 1 live unload. -
yeah i called nemf but no openings
-
hey jkk, do the solo drivers get home much on week ends? -
Used to be company policy to get all drivers home on the weekends. Some drivers volunteer to work thru a weekend for more miles.
New hires are told they will be home every other weekend but it all depends on where they live and what freight lanes they are running.
