Your not getting it, the driver should NEVER have access to the unfinished trailer, after initally writing it up.... until the trailer repair is finished.

Incidentally, mechanical defects can/are certainly detectable in brand new equipment. Perhaps not OOS defects but issues nevertheless. The world is NOT perfect, neither in brand spanking new equipment.

Again, some of the responsibilty and enforcement for a actual repair should fall on the person making the repair.

I think your not getting it. The driver is the last person to say yes or no. It does not matter if you get access to something that's not fixed or not. If you do it's up to you to refuse it till it's fixed. I agree the others involved should have some responsibility, but hey, this is trucking it all falls on you the driver. If CSA2010 were in effect right now what would your rating be? I have a feeling it would be pretty high as would probably most of the drivers who are so afraid of it. Most of us that are not afraid of it I would bet are probably going to start at a ZERO. It's your responsibility to make sure your equipment is road ready it's called a pre-trip inspection. If your company don't fix problems that are wrote up find a new company or plan on a new career.

It's been in a trial period for sometime in several states. If you've read it you would know that it won't go into full effect for the rest of the states til at least mid year or later. Either way as I said before I could care less. I'm not scared are you? :biggrin_25517:

putting less drivers behind the wheel only means more work to spread around to those still in the industry

    News Flash:
The CDL mills will just turn out new drivers even faster! If you think our highways are dangerous now...just wait a few more months when all the SUPERTRUCKERS start to lose thier jobs and are replaced with fresh meat. The roads will become as deadly as an Iraqi minefield!
I shudder when I think of how many mirrors and hoods will be torn in truckstops by all these new drivers!

Nah, if I was scared I'd have already gotten out of my truck. I'll get out when they throw me out.

I'd say the ones out there running faulty equipment because they are starving and don't want to miss a load are more dangerous than the newbies that have a better attitude toward safety . After few of the hungry misfits are culled out the newbies will get the message and keep the junk off the roads . The importance of doing proper pretrips and checking DVIR's will be a priority .

January 2, 2010, 7:52 am I crossed the scale in Minnesota on 94 westbound just past Wisconsin border. They were open and working hard. Checking logbooks and pulling many over to the parking area and giving level 3's.

Got mine today. What a start to a year.

Three inspections is less than 2 months.

    Beechvtail Thanks this.
