    I agree... $2.50 a mile, I wouldn't even get out of bed.
5$ a mile and up is what gets me out of the house.

I have a feeling you'll be singing a different tune before too long. Can't stay like this forever......never does.

    I belive you are correct.
And to all the poor soles who bought a truck recently at thease over inflated prices will be upside-down and there will be a ton of repossessed trucks.

You might be wrong there aswell. Because if rates go down that means the economy is shrinking. People aren't going to continue to buy inflated goods. Eventually, goods become priced out and people don't buy. Which means, you can't move whats not being made......or bought for that matter. Not to mention if fuel keeps going up and more shortages happen. Interesting times indeed.

I'd take 2.50/Mile for big mile trips. Cross country in four days for $7000 isn't a bad rate when you can get it going EW and WE.

Now for short miles from TN, NC, or thereabouts headed up to the new England area I'd be looking for $5000 up then scrounge up $2000 to $2500 on the way back down.

The short hop is better business but I can still make a killing crossing the country, especially when that 7k each way hits 8k occasionally. I'll admit I have a bit of an addiction to big mile loads, I just like routine of it. I leave exactly on the 10 hour off mark even if I have extra time, no matter if I'm going east or west.

Either way us OO are making doctor money on an idiots education right now. Stack it up while you can and pay off the equipment. When the other shoe drops learn to stay at home with the wife and kids again or you'll drive yourself crazy missing the road.

I've been driving for almost 30 years. The day I have to "sing a different tune" is the day I hang up the keys for good.
I'm in this business for 1 reason and 1 reason only... To make a profit.
I don't do "favors" for dispatchers, nor do I take a cheaper paying load to get closer to something that pays more.
    I only run certain lanes.
    No Canada, no California anymore.
Basically the Mississippi to the Atlantic.
    Better description would be...
NY to GA / FL state line to Houston to Chicago to NY,
    I stay in that "box".
Anything outside that area I don't bother with.
That's how everything pays 5$ and up.

cke, Tug Toy and Wespipes Thank this.

Here is one I came across today. Certainly not as bad as lots I've seen but with the sides not covering the coil completely to protect it from the elements is a potential claim... Rain and snow will easily find its way onto this coil... to each his own, I'll stick with my method using my 4 foot lumber tarp.
