Entered the 3 week training program for tanker on the 8th. Flew in from California to Houston Texas. It is now the 25th. I was under the impression that I would fly back home after training is complete, but they told me I would be driving a load back to California in a truck. Wasn't too happy but whatever. Now they're saying not only that, the truck is a day cab. So I'll be driving the hazmat load in a daycab, and they say they will get hotels for me wherever I plan to stay. I asked them why not a conventional and they say it's because the local route I'll be driving requires day cab. So even more irritated I still was gonna go with it. Well today I thought I was getting the truck and load so i can head out tomorrow morning (Friday morning) and arrive back to Cali on Monday. Well of course they tell me I'm not getting the truck today but I'll get it tomorrow. Seeing that I have important things to do back home. I'm wondering if I should just book my own flight and get the hell out of here, leave them hanging and call another company when I reach california.
Stick with it. That day cab is probably the truck you'll be using once you get back home on a local route.
You have already invested a lot of time it sounds. Do you really want to start that process all over again ? Logistics at these big fleets is a complicated thing, I say be patient and deal with it as best you can. After you have gained valuable hazmat tank experience doors will open and there will be better opportunities. Good luck.
Long way to come just to quit. Drive the truck, enjoy the hotels and get paid. Be thankful you're not sleeping in a truck that a hoarder previously drove. Things could be a lot worse!
Right, Exaxtly right, companies think they're entitled to dick you around with false promises and flip-flops. Then have the nerve to give sermons on how to increase the company's revenue lol
