No some people just need to be a dick. They refuse to admit they don't know everything.

The devil is in the details. None of which can be accurately determined here with the spotty information given.
Some lease purchase arrangements are in the favor of the carrier, some a neutral in that regard.
Just like some lease contracts, without the purchase of a vehicle involved are in favor of the carrier, some not.

An accountant or tax person who is intimately familiar with the trucking industry should be able to advise you on whether the contract is in your best interest.
But any lease, purchase, contract, or piece of paper is only as good as the integrity of the person(s) who are party to it.

you want proof snowflake? I’ve been in a lease purchase for a few weeks, please let me share my last two settlements…
After you pick your jaw up off the floor you can say you were wrong.

so I’ll just say it like this, your wrong, you haven’t done your research and you are making a lot of generalizations and assumptions.

Hmm, I was a lease operator from 2015-2017 and never had a dispatcher. I had a load board with literally hundreds of loads to choose from. I could see the rate and FSC and everything. I did very well and loved the freedom. I had an older truck that pretty much died and was costing me a ton of money in repair bills so I turned it in and didn't even pay any fees.

I did so well that I ordered a NEW 2023 Freightliner Cascadia that will be delivered in March or April (3 months or so). I'm looking forward to getting back out on the road and my new truck has a really good warranty so I won't be pouring my money into repairs like last time. Yes I know downtime isn't covered. I was born at night, not last night.

I also WILL NOT BE DISPATCHED! Just like last time I will pick my own loads and make my decisions based on the rates and where the loads go. There are so many options for where you can lease a truck and pick your own loads, you should never let someone in an office somewhere control your business.

How is a lease payment any different than owing on a bank note (I don't have $185k to pay cash for a new truck.) I get to deduct all my lease payments for tax purposes. After three years I can finance the $50k residual if I want to keep the truck, but if your business model is to have new trucks with a warranty, you can just turn the truck in and get a new one. We can debate new verses used another day. I had a BAD experience with a used truck. But that's just me.

I know Mercer, Schneider National, and Landstar to name a few companies, don't dispatch you. I was leased to Schneider last time and I'm sticking with them this time around as well. Maybe you should know what you are talking about before you bash an entire group of drivers who earn a very good living doing what you obviously probably couldn't handle yourself.

I want to add a disclaimer to it. Certain companies have changed their leasing method. It wasn't like that before where you were choosing from a load board and they started sharing some of the wealth. You're not hauling for a $1/mile like some others still do with the shiny long nose & broke or borrowing at the end of the week :eek:
