I've been playing driver for 3 years now. Never could get over that imposter syndrome.

The numbers I hear are anywhere from 25 to 35 % of the gross. If the driver just drives and does no other physical labor 25% is a good starting point. If he's chasing down loads for you, or maintaining his truck...oil changes, lube, tires etc...he should be paid more.
Oh...pay the driver on a W2. Don't short change him on the benefits either.

Would you say 30% after fuel is too low?

Are you paying any benefits? Paid time off? Health insurance? FICA? Holidays? Detention?

How much do we pay for holiday’s? Wouldn’t that depends on if they work or not. I am new into the industry I’m just trying to figure out the best way to pay the drivers

Why are you paying after fuel cost is taken out? Just pay 25 to 30% of the gross to the driver.

30% of gross. Not after you deduct items such as fuel.
Gross means what the truck makes before expenses. From the remaining 70% you pay for fuel, tires, insurance, repairs.

    JoeyJunk and shooter19802003 Thank this.
