2015 cummins isx when Its idling at 900 rpm I can hear a howling/humming noise. When I get under the truck and lean in on the oil pan there's a pretty loud howling/humming noise in there. If the rpms are higher or lower it disappears. Only at the 900 rpm mark i can hear it. Any idea what that could be?

Gear train is becoming a sour point for Cummins ISX15 lately. Howling is certainly consistent with a gear train issue.

Yep, bottom of the crank gear.

I would bet a paycheck that it's your oil pump. It's the bottom of the gear train.... I have replaced atleadt a hundred over the last 15 or so years. The get loud when it's time to replace em. Keep an eye on your oil pressure guage... if you are seeing less than 30psi at above 1400 rpms, replace it. Only takes a couple of hours.... not a big deal. I did my last one in July in the TA parking lot in Eloy, AZ. Biggest issue is dealing with the dirty oil. I will warn you though... the last 5 remans I have put in made a bit of a high pitched whine - nothing can be done about it. Had it warrantied twice in 3 days and all 3 made the same noise.
QUALITYTRUCK Thanks this.
