I was making money with the truck I had leased before getting screwed when truck blew, so unfortunately that has left me trying to get back into something, had plenty of savings but a personal issue had come up and it drained it.
-
Obviously not enough money! Truck breakdowns happen. You should have had 50k in cash and at least that much in credit to cover that repair.

I had 100k in savings but had to pay for my mother's medical care so again before saying the always should have had enough money to cover I had plenty but when things that have nothing to do with truck come up it goes quick. And again when I first got truck I did fix it.

Worked for JB Hunt from 1999 to 2004. In 2003 they wanted me to buy/lease the company truck that I was driving at the time. The rate was terrible and would have went broke in my first year. Was in a JB Hunt shop getting service done and a lease driver was in getting work done. Was good friends with one of the mechanics in the shop, he said look at that guy over there. Lease guy. Have his truck in shop right now and the repair bill is gonna bust him. He said no way to recover from the repairs. Set up like a casino...house always wins.

you remeber when jb raised pay to .40Old_n_gray Thanks this.

They are a straight up outfit - they have more freight than anyone out there and you can run how you want - loads pay average but they do save you a lot with your take home and like they said, won't have to worry about being cheated with surcharge and you'll know what the loads pay before you book them, with my last outfit they paid more percentage but i never knew what the load paid them and i like being able to see that - you could lease through SFI or OTR, they do lease with them but you usually can do better with leasing your own truck from a dealer and bringing it to JB... Just good luck finding one lately
tupeg Thanks this. -
and no doubt things have changed in transportation since 2004 and the 90's - they don't do OTR anymore so rates are different depending on what you're doing - they have rates as high as 1.00 pm for company guys - transportation changes every week - kills me to see you old dogs acting like you're experts on a company you haven't ran for in 20+ years lol - everyone is an expert these days though...
tupeg Thanks this. -
