Did flatbed for a couple years then went back to frameless end dumps . Came back to Mercer in March to do flatbed again and now they put me on vans because I messed my back up.
If you decide to do flat bed then be careful. I have fallen off loads while trying to tarp in the ice but I love doing it. Just can't anymore.

So it appears I have to go though a refresher course in order to get back out there. I wonder if its more hassle than it’s worth. One company said it’d be 6 week refresher with a trainer. I’m not sure how I feel about that. 2 weeks I think I’d have it. Especially when I was a trainer for 2 year myself. I know I need a short refresher to get back in the swing, but I’m hearing things that make me sound like I just got my cdl

Maybe try a local outfit? Years ago I took a break for 5 yrs from trucking. To get back into it I got a job with a local outfit (they were a cowboy company for sure), but a couple years with them and I had my “recent experience” and was able to go from there and get some good jobs with bigger companies.

The companies that you are talking to are they flatbed companies or van companies? Reason being is that you have talked about flatbeds.
If you are talking about flatbeds then 6 weeks might be to get you trained for flatbed if you haven't had experience.
Just curious as to the 6 weeks of training.

So I’m on vacation with the family in Florida, and I decided to look at my indeed ap locally. Lots of companies are are offering paid refreshers. Interesting. Not that I’d move to Florida, I just find that location can change the perception of a candidate dramatically.

Go for it. Even if you have to do a refresher with a decent carrier.

The definition of decent carrier seems to change from week to week.
Honestly, the best comeback route I’ve got so far is a paid refresher at Werner going out 3-11 days with a “Leader” I get $750 a week while out. They said that could be my refresher and get seated afterwards. I’d go for dedicated to be home more often. I do t know if I’d like to do the long time away thing again

How close are you to Alma?
Avalon Pontoon Boats run 48 & Canada. You'd have to return after each trip.
