My parents paid for a little bit of my first car. Their reason was so if I acted up they could take my keys away lol. I was responsible for 100% everything else - gas, insurance, tires, maintenance etc.

For sure! The miles we put on the bikes. The boys and I would go out on the trails sometimes all day. I'd bike to work quite often in summer. I'd bike to work now but there's next to nothing for a shoulder on the route I take and traffic is heavy most mornings.

Pagers were all the rage at my high school.

A buddy of mine was given one by his girlfriend, and I said "HAH Nice leash she got for you". He protested that it wasn't anything of the sort.

That pager went off constantly. If he didn't respond quickly she'd put a "911" at the end of the call back number. Can't count how many times we'd be out driving around and that crap would happen. He'd scramble to find a pay phone to call her only to hear "Whatcha doin?" on the other end.

    "Yeah dude. That's a leash!"

I didn't get a phone until my Mid 20s. I spent my first few years over the road using payphones to call brokers and customers. I'm glad for my phone now. A little of that goes a long ways.

I've been honestly considering getting rid of the dumbphone for an old flip phone. Or just go back to a landline exclusively.

I had a naturally aspirated Ford f350 dually, 4 door. In the winter it would just smoke out the parking lot. Because they wouldn't let me plug it in. Pretty funny.

Here's the punch line on that note...

    He wasn't.

    She was.
