Furthermore, will you be able to shop around in 2035 for the cheapest recharge price, and how will the road usage tax work?

Here's a lovely road princess for you. -
Here is a MPGe Cost Comparison Calculator to get an estimate of the differences in prices between diesel gallons and kwh electricity. Just have to put in the average electricity cost per kwh and average diesel cost per gallon and the mpg for a diesel semi for comparison.
Side note, there is a video released today from a YouTube channel I follow talking about a driver's perspective if switched to an electric vehicle.
How will Electric Trucks Change the Industry? How will it Change MY Life as a Seasoned Driver? -
I'm more concerned about where all this electricity is going to come from, and what grid is going to carry it.
Reality may mean be that charging stations may all have to get together, build there own plants, and put up their own grip to carry the load.
The other thing that I am guessing is in the real world people who buy electric trucks, are going to be very disappointed in their range.
Tesla may claim 300 miles between charges, but I bet that people are going to see half that in real life.
Snow, mud, chains, cold, steep hills, heavy loads, they all require more power. So what happens when its -40, 20" of snow, the gross weight is 145,000 lbs, and your in the mountains?
Do you get 30 miles to charge?Ruthless, Sirscrapntruckalot, Elroythekid and 1 other person Thank this. -
Just wait until they get enough electric vehicles on the road. They'll start jacking the rates up. They'll more than likely monitor your mileage and send you a tax bill too.
As for power generation, there is no source that is both clean and reliable. Coal and oil/gas produce emissions, nuclear leaves behind radioactive waste (and have the potential for meltdown). Wind is not reliable, nor is solar. Building dams ruins the landscape by flooding out land.
At the end of the day, I see it all as a wash. Moving the pollution from one source to another.Oxbow and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
Do not i repeat do not ever buy one of these paccar motors if you are going to be pulling any hills they are wayy under power and cannot compete with the other motors So far i have gone through 2 motors and the second one only lasted 200000 kms there is no guarantee on these and nobody will do anything to help me out so basically im out 44,000$
