Hello Everyone
I have a 2016 T-680 and I can't seem to get it to force regen.
*backstory*
I was on a half tank of DEF and filled up along with diesel. About an hour down the road my lights started going off. Then while waiting to be loaded I got a "Stop Engine Immediately, Do Not Run Engine or Damage Will Occur" notice in red. I turn off the truck and called a few friends.
I checked my KT Fault Codes and this was there:
"SPN-4094 18 NOx limits exceeded due to Insufficient Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality"
The placed I filled up at was not any help. And the truck would only go so fast so I couldn't get anywhere in it. I managed to obtain a syphon and 2 boxes of DEF. And from there get the old out and some new in. Nothing was working, so I went to sleep and got towed to a shop in the AM.
*Now*
The people at the shop said that the computer is not giving a reason as to why the light is still on and the truck still in Derate. Only that the DEF is low. That would be obvious since I only put the 2 cans in. I limped to the pump and filled the DEF all the way up. And still can't get any of this fixed.
I was told to try to get it to Force Regen but that is not working.
Any Ideas? I think I have no choice but to go to KW.
Pic of the dash before for going to shop.
Thanks

Stab in the dark is that you have a bad NOx sensor giving a bad reading and the NOX reduction is not adequate. Of course hooks up and diagnosis would need to be done to confirm. It may have just been a coincidence that this occurred when you fueled up.
Even if the faults are cleared with a generic code read tool, the derates can remain locked on until the truck is repaired and the monitors are ran as complete.
MX engine?Mz.Namor and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
Nox Sensor most likely
Mz.Namor and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
Could it be the sensor for the DEF tank ? There’s been threads on here about it. I’ve had 2 bad Nox sensors go out(in and out) at different times and never had a “Stop engine”.

@Goodysnap Thanks for the advice. It is a MX13 or 15.
@Siinman Thanks as well for responding. I didn't get that code until I put the DEF in. I got the DEF about 6:30pm ish and the Keeptruckin fault codes did show until about 7:20 something. That's right about the time all the lights started going off.
Thanks @Diesel Dave for your input. I am hoping it's nothing more that that. Or maybe the filter??? Thats what I was thinking. I've never heard of this happening before and I couldn't find anything online about it.
I will try to find the screenshots I took of the fault codes after taking it to the shop. I think I am going to KW.
Here is a pic of the fault codes that night, when it first started acting crazy. -
I have a 2021 Peterbilt and once in awhile it will go through the whole shutdown thing on the dash but once it rolls through the pull over stuff it clears itself and has no issues
Could be a glitch in my case as most of this new stuff needs countless updates
It seems my last 2019 Peterbilt did the same thing
If yours is clearing itself it may just be the same thing
But as others have said. The sensor I has been an issues across all makes of trucks
I did have a 2014 KW and it did that. #### me down
Took it to KW in Ogden
They flushed the egr cooler. Changed a few sensors and it ran perfect
They said they have trucks that do the flush every year and have never been down
I started doing that as a PM yearly on my truck and also no issuesMz.Namor Thanks this.
