I think insurance considers you to have no experience. When you go to a trucking school, from my understanding, you are considered to have 3 months experience according to insurance.

 

I did the same thing you have to find a smaller company like sygma or some farm hauling grain and work for them for a year and then you should be able to go elsewhere thats what i did

 

some big companies are ok with it, like werner...

 

There are a lot of things that are taken into consideration.
Your age...
Your MVR..... if you hve DUI's or speeding tickets
Your criminal background, or lack of.... have you ever been arrested
Your work history.... do you have any gaps.
Who you are as a person... this can open or close doors for you.

If all you need is some experience, you may be able to get on with a small company or run with an O/O. There is wiggle room, it just all depends on how much wiggling needs to be done.

 

I did the same thing ( 21 yrs. ago ). I just got my license with a dump truck and trailer. I found a small company that had 1 truck and I delivered janitorial supplies for 2 years. I made a whopping $6.50 an hour but I got my experience. Never went to school and just learned as I went along. The biggest thing was figuring out those 9 gears.

You can also look for a job as a switcher. My company hires drivers without 3 years and puts them on the yard until they get it.
