Not a myth. Drivers do get busted for this. The driver you quoted stated he was in a hotel room so that would not apply in his case.

On the other hand if he was a company driver he could get called to move his truck, cover a load, or perform a random drug/alcohol test. Companies are pretty strict about consuming ANY alcohol while assigned to a truck and the truck is in your possession (even if it is parked at a hotel). When you drive for a company your time is never your own until you are on your "home time" and the truck is parked at the company terminal.

Have fun delivering there :) the space between trl's r VERY tight. Yall will most likely dh to center or carthage tx to reload to either az or ca.

Yup it'd be nice to get outta the trk and relax whenever u can :)

I have sprint and att myself. There are dead spots with every carrier. Sprint has cheapest plan. For 129.99 its two phones with 1500minutes unlimited data and msg. N&W start at 7pm.

As far as smartphones go it depends if u want a keyboard or not. For sprint without keyboard I would say the HTC hero is the best. With keyboard the samsung moment. The google os(android) is very good compared to blackberry or palm.

For verizon the droid is the top phone they got. Also running on android os.

If you wanna stay with att gotta get the iphone. Its awesome and will do everything you want it to do lol.

Well actually I am a company driver and Alan, I don't work for JCT.......yet. Need more experience before they would hire me. Also have a felony and want to make sure that it is waaaaaaaaay old enough if I should ever decide to come over there. Yes the price of the room is coming out of my pocket, probably won't get reimbursed tax wise and its #### sure that my company won't reimburse me,:biggrin_2559: but sometimes you just have to say the heck with it!!!!!! Needed a break, have the money, took it.

All keys to my truck are in my pocket, ain't in the truck, so how can I get in trouble for it? I maybe a newbie and lacking in sense but aint' totally dumb. :biggrin_25523:

Thanks for catching that for me. Only problem with that line of logic, for this company anyway, is that we only have 2 terminals and I try to stay away from them as much as possible.
As for moving my truck or covering a load, am already under a load and company knows that I am not in my truck. Am trying to cover all bases and keep my butt out of trouble. Is there anything else I should be worrying about?
Oh yea, load doesn't pick up till noon tomorrow.

Dabs, have an ATT phone, just a palian ole phone, that works most anywhere, cept for like Nebraska. For a wirless card, I just went to Verizon and have been fairly happy with them so far. Don't know if you do video or not but for email and just surfing, Verizon beats ATT hands down!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Each company has their own rules.

Regrettably there are always tattle tales who will turn a driver in to their safety man. Trucks parked at strip clubs, bars, or other "undesirable" places will be noticed by others and reported. Sometimes by the general public, sometimes by a fellow driver. You just never know who is watching.

Best advice I can give you is when on the road skip the booze entirely. Wait until you are home to drink. It just isn't worth losing your career over a 6/12 pack.

You speak the truth sir and I very much apreciate it. Thats why i try to keep it on the qt and only do it when I get a motel room. This makes twice in a year and both in a motel.
