Remember what Six was saying about bringing your A game?
In martial arts, when you go up against an opponent, and both bring their A game, there is a mutual respect, regardless of who wins. Back then Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock were two of the best. Gracie was known for developing the "Gracie Guard", but it was really his ability to put an opponent into an inescapable choke hold in a millisecond as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Shamrock was known for his striking power, but in reality, it was his stamina that made him so dangerous.
Gracie would slowly wear down an opponent, until they got desperate and attempt to strike their way out, and when they lifted their head, he had them. Shamrock would take strikes, baiting his opponent until the opportunity presented itself, then would knock them out.
So in that match, you have two opponents, who knew that their strengths were matched. Gracie's against incredible stamina, Shamrock's against incredible patience.
But neither deviated, they didn't resort to plan B. They each brought their A game. What you see, is A game vs A game. For people experienced in martial arts, it's incredible to watch. 30 minutes on the mat feels like an eternity, and to watch them both stay with it for that long is simply amazing. -
I vaguely remember Oleg, wasn't he a shoot and take down guy?cke, DeereRunner97, Flint1 and 1 other person Thank this.

People who have never done it don't have a concept of what it's like to spend 3 minutes on the mat let alone 30, or 45.
You posted one of the greatest fights in UFC history. Problem is people want to see the explosive KO's or near instantaneous tap outs. Not sayin there isn't some excitement to that, but sometimes that's more about a lucky opening rather than an application of skill/discipline.cke, DeereRunner97, TripleSix and 6 others Thank this. -
He was a Roman Greco wrestling guy. He was a tank who would take a beating on the mat and didn't seem to care. Had a determination to persevere even when he was getting his butt handed to him.cke, DeereRunner97, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this.

All I seen was a boring ### fight.cke Thanks this.

Never heard of both of those. Up close and personal, iron sights FTW. Personally I like the V shaped irons with a small bead up front. Makes for quick target acquisitioncke, clausland, DeereRunner97 and 2 others Thank this.

Sore as all get out. Hoping to be good enough Monday to load and tarp. Putting on one piece that's 8' tall, gonna be fun. As long as I don't bend that ankle up or turn it in it's not too bad. Right ankle and left knee. Leave it to my dumb ### to take both legs out lol. The knee is actually fine as long as I don't bend it too deep or bump it against something. My wife says if the swelling in my ankle don't go down by tomorrow I got to go to the Doc.cke, Swine hauler, clausland and 8 others Thank this.
