I inspect 30 buses twice a year. Yet walking around I see crap that should never have a sticker.
This particular unit had a fresh sticker on it, and tires worn to the wear bars. Sad state of affairs. Can't imagine allowing to defer inspections becase of the vid.![]()
Annual safety sticker

One of the reasons I don't agree with a company being allowed to CVI their own equipment. Conflict of interest in a way.Pamela1990, Magoo1968 and Flint1 Thank this.

That depends. That particular inspection was done at an independent shop. However it's buddy of his.
Most companies that are self certified with in-house mechanics seem to follow the rules. Too much on the line. Until you get to the big huge contractors. Those be piles...
We have dot blitzs once or twice a year. Most run, hide and avoid.
I send mine into them.
What we need is more enforcement. 25 years I've been thru 2 shop audits.
Dot needs to start showing up at yards and inspect em allLast edited: Dec 12, 2021
Pamela1990, Phantom Trucker, AModelCat and 1 other person Thank this. -
BC is every 6 months for commercial truck and 12 months for trailer. If truck is farm registered then inspection every 12 months is permitted. I feel every 6 months is overly burdensome to be honest.

Trucks are every 6 months, but trailers are only annually. -
Sorry Bob, I answered @AModelCat and then kept reading further, and saw you have already said it.
