I just want to become an owner operator.I did some research:
Large companies prefer Pay by miles,But someone saying that pay by percentage is more profitable For owner operator. Usually the company takes 12 to 15%.

Depends if your clients/customers pay decent freight prices or if they have already been bottomed out by the immigrants driving prices into the ground and ruining the industry.

Usually doesn't make much difference getting mileage or percentage. 85% of #### all is still #### all but mileage never changes.c.w and Pamela1990 Thank this.

For flatbed the shorter hauls usually make more money. So go percentage. Just make sure you get a copy of the ORIGINAL rate. Some companies won't share that info, so you never know if you're getting screwed. As an owner operator, I wouldn’t move if on percentage and haven’t seen the rate document. I also have never seen higher than 10% commission (90% to truck) when supply your own truck and trailers. In theory the mileage rate should be the same so doesn’t really matter what you call it. I’d be hesitant to roll for less than $6.50/loaded mile these days though as a minimum.

6.50 per mile? Please tell us where you're getting these rates. Cause I've been doing this a long time and only time I've seen anything near that is 50-100 mile runs

I mean $6.50/ loaded mile, or $3.25/running mile (total) which is $2/km
