After 20 years in sales the job market got to be where I was finding entry level positions requiring Masters degrees for inside sales. I decided that I either needed to go back to school or pick up a skill.

As I was researching trucking schools I actually came across a sales position in the trucking industry. I took the position and plan on going for my CDL to fall back on in case things do not work out in this economy.

My father drove for Yellow Freight for over 30 years so I have an idea what to expect. The first couple years a pretty rough if I have to take that road. In the meantime I get to to talk and help truckers out on a daily basis selling a membership to a Broker-free load board.

Any suggestions on which schools are the best in the Chicago area or tips on making a little bit of money the first couple of years are welcome.

    Baack Thanks this.

Welcome to the forum McCabe! There's probably nothing about the trucking industry and driving that you can't learn here. Good luck in whatever you do!

I really have alot to learn before I hit the highways and byways. I've learned plenty of good and bad, and its hard to absorb all this info and filter whats BS and what is not.

Hi McCabe, Welcome to the Forum. Am sure you will find a lot of help herefrom the forum members. My husband had one student who went to a very good driving school in Wisconsin, called Fox Valley Tech. Hope this helps.
