Almost any thermals will function well enough. The important part is having a good fleece jacket then a hard shell outside of it.

I wear cheap thermals, shirt a thick fleece/wool jacket and a hard shell jacket. I literally bought a cold weather gorka and it works down to -10 laying in the snow

Flannel lined jeans with a similar long sleeved shirt is all I use.
Under 10-0 degrees I will put on my sweater and some gloves.

None of it is expensive or bulky, just warm.

Lampasa thermal underwear. Not cheap but they are very warm and last three times that of the low priced ones from Walmart while doing a better job.

Staying warm? Do runs to Texas and Florida. That’s how.
And stay far far away from North Dakota.

I wore long johns hauling milk one MI winter almost 50 years ago and every time I went some where without them, I about froze to death. Never again.

It is best to get use to the weather. Shoot, growing up a dairy farm, I only wore a blue Jean jacket.

Walmart fleece lined pants hunting boots and 3-4 layers of sweatshirts and long sleeve shirts. Hardly ever got cold. Working in snow.
