Here's the thing. For whatever reason we as Americans romanticize war. Let me tell you, it is the farthest thing from it. The problems we Americans have is, war has always been fought in some far away place, out of sight from the ones you love. We kiss our lived ones goodbye, get on the transport to some far off land that the majority of folks can't even find on a map. Then do what would be done. Then hop back on the transport home to tell stories of your adventures. What comes for us next is different. It will effect everyone, young and old. It will have great effect on all walks and fecets of life. It won't be pretty and your family will have a front row seat to every bit of it. I wish that I could say I don't know what that looks like, but I do.......and I don't know how I feel about that.

WW2 had a little to do with that, thanks be to war bonds and the likes of Rosie the Riveter and the way everyone contributed to the war effort in some way.

Unfortunately in that era we had just learned that oceans are no longer a suitable boundary, even though HI is roughly halfway between our mainland and Japan.

I hope it doesn't come down to that. If it does our military will be on our side. One of mine and my brothers friends joined the army last year. A lot of those guys are pissed of real good right now.

A guy I worked with doing food service did 3 tours in Afghanistan and he had PTSD when he came back. He told me when he got back he didn't leave his house for over 4 months. Now you couldn't tell, he's worked through it.

I never asked him any questions about it over there. Then one day he opened up to me about all the ####ed up stuff he saw and did. IDK if I'd ever be right again after hearing some of the stuff he told me.

Pisses me off to no end how they're treated after they come back. Tossed out and forgotten about:mad:
