I agree that even if a post is old that if a person has information that makes it more accurate or corrects bad information then they should post a response. A lot of drivers are given a bad rap when it comes to accidents. I totally agree that the drunk driver should be charged and severely punished. I also agree that drivers who blatantly break rules and get caught should be punished. It is those drivers that are making trucking harder for all the truckers. With that being said, I also feel that when a driver does everything he/she can do to avoid an accident it should be viewed as just that, an "accident". Many 4-wheelers drive recklessly around 18-wheelers with little or no thought to their stopping power, their weight, or any other of the many details that keep a big rig from stopping on a dime or slowing down quick enough to avoid hitting a 4-wheeler that cuts in front of them.
My husband and I have said many times that part of the learning to drive a 4-wheeler should include sharing the road with the 18-wheelers and include do's and don'ts. I think that one of the biggest errors made at accident scenes is when the assumption is made that it is the trucker's fault. Many carrier companies have taken on that attitude and will terminate a driver for an accident whether it is their fault or not.
What a Crock! ! !
this is why i rat out drivers who are drinking. if you have a problem with it, tough crap. i hope the stupid drunk truck driver gets the book thrown at him. 4 wheelers or not, i feel the same about all of them. good riddance to eduardo lugo, and i'm HAPPY he'll be off the road for a long time to come.
