Sleep study required for DOT med card.

I'd find something else right away. There are so many clinics around.

The last doctor I saw mentioned that technically my BMI and neck size was in the category that she should require me to get a sleep study done. But I’m muscular more than anything. I lifted weights for years, going all the way back to high school. Yeah I got a little layer of chubbiness over the muscle but it’s still there. Lol she looked me over and felt I was in good enough shape she would let it slide. So it is up to their discretion.
But here’s the thing, I know when I’ve had sleep apnea. When I hit a certain weight, it comes on and trust me I know I have it because I wake up 300 times a night choking. If I drop about 20 or 30 pounds which I’ve done it goes away.

if you want to know if you have sleep apnea just turn on the recorder on your cell phone and fall asleep and then the next day kind of scan through it and listen to it. If you hear yourself gasping for air and choking, you have sleep apnea. You don’t need a #### $3000 sleep study.

furthermore, most of the modern CPAP’s are self adjustable. Meaning one size does fit all, then you just need to get the proper size mask and you’re good to go.

from start to finish you can get this done for about $1200. But if you let them rip you off they’ll get six grand out of you before you get to sleep.

Don’t get ripped off!! There’s cheaper ways to get what you need.

No such "request" until:
2008.
Was classified as needing a sleep study due to unknown, random head shaking.
Checked my Doctor and price was 2K+ Out Of Pocket.

That was the ONLY TIME I was ever "required" to complete said "study".

Plus BMI is ########, how in the hell is it still being used as a measure for clean health?

 

Yeah I am a big boy but have always been in shape. I couldn’t imagine if I was told this.
