At Prime we just got whatever they collected for fuel surcharge but there was a guarantee of a certain amount. What I was talking about was a fuel discount from Pilot and T/A that was we got fuel at whichever price was lower either the stations cost plus 2.5 cents or 5.5 cents off the pump price. Sometimes with the cost plus 2.5 cent price I had paid as much as 70 cents below what the pump price was.

 

Let me rephrase the $4500 debt that dose not bother me in the grand scheme of things.



When I talked to Stevens the costs is $4500 which you pay back at the rate of $25.00 a week still no problem if you go to work for them for one year. The catch is that you are still responsible for the remainder of the balance at roughly 20% inst. still no problem. However I am trying to find the best bang for the buck. I just want to be cost effective in this because the bottem line is very important as you all know.

 

Wow im surprised they make you pay for that now.. 5 years ago all you gotta do was commit to a year.... did you talk to recruiting department for that info???

How about simply going to the license office and getting a CDL drivers guide and study it, take all 5 tests, get a permit, and then take a driving test. Cost= the cost of the CDL itself, and the rental of a vehicle to test in. There is NO requirement to attend any school at all, at least in the state of Texas. The problem then is to find someone to give you a shot at a job. Do your time there and get the experience, and move onward and upward. You can't start at the top, although in todays day and age everyone wants to, but why commit to spending $4500 or even $675 when you don't really have to? Just another route to take!

 

Here's my two cents, we really dont want more drivers out there that just basically got a license with no training go out on the same roads we roll on..several years ago i seen these drivers at the receivers and shippers not knowing how to back up..do we really want that??? lol, well i'll blame herkyboy the next time someone doesn't know how to back up

I was trying to keep up to date with the posts but there was page after page after page lol I really dig your updates lol almost like reading a diary lol I am scheduled to come to JCT January 18th. I must admit, I have been a little nervous. Are you still pleased with the truck selection (Freightliner Classic XL)? Miles? Hometime? Not to be too nosy in detail, but what part of the US do you live? If I remember correctly, was your first load out of Rogers, AR?
