She is one of Papa's 5 dogs, the newest he got. She is very mellow for just being a pup, or sort of a pup. Don't quote me on this, but I think that she is 13 months old now. The dogs all just run free, and when us drivers go to work, if we have dogs, we take them with us to the yard, and leave them there. My dogs ( our dogs my sister and I ) when nobody is home, we just drive them over to Papa's yard and leave them there. Its not uncommon for there to be 17 dogs there. They entertain each other, and spend a lot of time there. Papa loves dogs, and is happy to have them around. Every so often, whoever has their dogs there, just brings out a bag of dog food and drops it off. There are 3 large water bowls, and 3 large food bowls, the dogs all just share them. Being winter the heated water bowls are out now. Whomever is walking past and sees anything empty, just fills it up, be it water or food. Sure beats a dog, or dogs being left home all day. No need to tie them up, they have 160 acres of freedom to run around on, and lots of others to play with.spindrift, Cowboyrich, Speed_Drums and 12 others Thank this.

That's pretty cool. Your very rural up there. I like dogs too. They kind of normalize things and bring stuff back to center. Bernards are supposed to be mellow.
Land has gone up a lot in the Midwest. I have always wanted land, but I have one acre. It's better to have it than not to have it.4mer trucker, Cowboyrich, Oxbow and 10 others Thank this. -
I wonder about the crews on the ships. Some have been at sea (traveling over and now waiting a year, lots of them 9 month) So how are they keeping them aboard? No way off, promise of more $, what. Bound to be getting some frayed rough edges among the crews. No sailing not a lot to do. Peculiar situation.4mer trucker, Cowboyrich, InTooDeep and 11 others Thank this.

I watch a guy on YouTube. They put the ships out near Baja instead socal to reduce the back up levels at the port. Now if you're in the socal anchorage you can get tv and radio stations. You can get a water taxi into the dock. Off of Baja your 100 to 300 miles out and just float. Start up the engines reposition and then float again. The Chinese make crews wait three weeks to prove they are covid free and more stuff. Plus china is trying to get more crews on the boats to be Thiers. The Philippines dominate the crews for non officers spots.4mer trucker, Speed_Drums, shooter19802003 and 10 others Thank this.

This is where I grew up. My baby sister and I bought a house together in 2017, its about a 6 minute drive from Papa's place. We only have 9 acres though, and 2 golden retrievers. Our dogs have a dog door, and come and go as they please. Occasionally they wander over to a neighbors house for a visit. We live on a dead end road, so it has little traffic, and every house on our road has at least 1 dog, and nobody ties them up, so we all drive slow so a dog doesn't get hit. Just a few days ago, I suddenly realized that my house had to many paws running around in it, so hearing that I turned and looked, and there were 4 dogs running around lol.
My dogs were gone for about an hour, not at all unusual. But apparently when they came home, 2 dogs from the neighborhood followed them in through the dog door. All 4 had a little to eat and drink from the bowls, then all 4 laid down and slept. It's that type of neighborhood, everyone knows each other, and nobody cares if someone else's dog is at their place. The beauty of a dead end country road, with only 8 homes on it.kemosabi49, Cowboyrich, lilillill and 14 others Thank this. -
