While I agree with you on both comments and in what would be considered a defense of Oklahoma, it has been my experience that regardless of where you go anymore there are an equal amount of aggressive, brain dead drivers. My language and comments don't get any better away from here, especially the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex. ;):D

The roads? I have nothing to add because yes, they are embarrassingly bad. ODOT claims it's because of the wild variations in temps, moisture and lack thereof, like no other state in this country doesn't have varying weather.

3/4 avalanches only came with the 8.1. But they only came with the 4l80e 4spd auto.
In order to fit the allison on the gm chassis a 2" body lift was required. Thats why all the HDs are 2" higher...
8.1 is an awesome motor. The mine I was working at had 350 of em. I was the warranty guy for Gm for years on site.
I own 2 8.8L. In school buses. Big block chevys for the win.

Ah, my mistake. I assumed the 06 model would have had the 6 speed like my '06 2500 HD.

Awesome combo. Engine and trannies were bulletproof for mine use. Especially by 06. I fought with Allison for a few years. 01-03 had a single lip pump seal.
8.1 would eat the very odd camshaft, but with 30000hrs of mainly idle time I'd expect that.
Biggest issue we had was 8.1L motor mounts. And they paid crap under warranty. 0.9 hrs for 2. By about the 100th set I was making $ off em.
Here is an 8.1L and crew cab chev from the boneyard, after being run over multiple times by a D11 dozer for a training vid. And an ultra rare picture of me. No autographs.

It was fun to watch thats for sure. Had to deal with a few while i was there.
There was an f550 that got squished by a 797 cat truck. Even snapped and flattened the brake drums.
There was one idiot that ruined 2 trucks in 2 days. Backed over 1 with a D11. The next day he poked the ripper thru the A pillar of another one.
And he passed his whiz quiz

I'd be curious to see what the range drops to when you have to heat the cab up from -30 twice a day in our winters.

The prices on these electric pickups are nuts. The WT trim on that Silverado is as much as the mid-level trim gas truck.

Was that up in the Mac? It was a GM tech friend that worked at the dealer up there that told me to go with the 8.1 over the Duramax. He said they saw way less of them in for warranty and some mine up there had a pile of them. His name was Rod Creighton.

It was but the mac dealer lost the mine contract in 1997. I was there from 2000-2014. But I worked for edmonton motors. I may have met rod at a gm course or 2.
Or when I was trucking. I did a lot of dealer transfers, mine deliveries and rental deliveries. With a car hauler..
By 06 the duramax was dam near bulletproof too. And they remained that way till 2011. 2011-16 I wouldn't touch one. Same high pressure pump issues as ford..
Unless you didn't work em. If you used em to get groceries only they gave turbo and egr issues.
