Werner does not have their own school. You need to already have your cdl. I have considered both, and I chose Swift. Just do your research and choose the one that suits your needs.

I'd say Swift, but I'm biased since I work for (and love/hate) them. Also 3 Werner trucks have ticked me off in the past 2 days....:biggrin_25523:

Seriously, Swift isn't all terrible (sp?). You will have to be on the ball about getting your truck fixed; occasionally put your foot down if the truck needs repair, or the load doesn't have enough time on it, etc. As an example, they once tried to force me to do a 58,000lbs load from Sumner WA to Bend OR with only 6 hrs left on my logs. Since your new, that would bring the truck weight to about 98,000lbs, and is 305 miles over Mt Hood (6 percent grade) in 60/55 mph states all in a horsepower neutered truck. Now I'm rated to 105,000, but with that mountain it's a 7+ hr run depending on weight and weather.

Just think about the runs locigally, stick to the rule books and keep your truck repaired. You'll do fine. Honestly, that advice should pay off with any company... at least I hope it would.

And you are 100 percent correct, sir. We all have to start somewhere. I'd say do the research, make the best decision you can, hang 1 year and re-evaluate. Best of luck.

Will keep my Options open the reason I was going with Werner is that I can use my gi bill the 1st year AS On The Job Training and the VA will pay me about 1300 for my 1st year plus I will get paid by Werener I was looking to see if swift will do that also if they do I am jumping with swift since there is OC 30 minuites from my home
