I'm in the process of a 10 speed to 13 speed swap. Have everything ready to go, and hooking up the airlines to the shift knob. I'm running into an issue here. I have everything hooked up correctly to the knob by the book. However, I am getting air back to the shift knob to the H/L line when on the low side. This line should have air to it when on the high side, so that there is air to the splitter. This is on a 16913a, but an early model non-Halo. I'm wondering if there was an early version shift knob that may have the air going to the P port when in high instead of low. I'm at a loss on this one.

I'm doing some research, and I'm wondering if this is not a 15 speed instead of a 13 speed. No tag. The salvage yard I purchased from verified it was a 13. So, if this is the case, and it is a 15, I know I'll need a different shift knob. What is this going to do to my ratios?

What are you running for gears and tire size ?

Lp 22.5 and 4.10

Eaton Fuller transmission rations: It lists them all but there are many possible that look the same.

Have any pictures of the trans and the air setup that is on it? I may be able to tell from them.
If it is a 15 speed you will know once you start driving it, on a 15 the top gear is over and up towards the dash, where a 13 speed it is over and back away from the dash. -
Not sure if you can tell from this picture, this is the only one I have at the moment.
What is making me think it's a 15 is that I have air on the h/l line back to the shift knob when in low, not in high like a 13 should be. I have a new A6913 shift knob on it now.
It's making me sick thinking I'm going to have to pull it.Attached Files:

A 13 SPD OD supply line should feed off the top of that type slave valve not the bottom.

Not all 15 speeds have top gear against the dash.Roger McG and BoxCarKidd Thank this.

cant really tell much from that picture, looks like it may be a 15 but would need to see the back side(output shaft side) to be sure, a 15 speed will have a combination range/splitter fork housing where a 13 or 18 would have separate housings for the range and splitter forks.
I stand corrected, Guess I haven't seen any of the 9 series 15 speeds yet.Last edited: Jan 8, 2022
