Do 40-50 hour weeks, hourly pay, and home nightly jobs exist?

Well I don't LOVE naming my company on forums just because... well, these types of forums are monitored by some companies.

But then again, I've talked about it in other threads, and have a really quite glowing opinion of them. I don't think they'll have an issue with that.

So. I work for UPS as a feeder driver.

Pay is ~$41 per hour. Mileage pay is ~90 cpm. There are hourly runs, then there are mileage pay runs. Obviously the mileage pay runs are for the guys with seniority, since that's quite an eye-popping pay rate for a company driver.

Insurance is Teamcare, which is Blue cross blue shield. Quite a low deductible. Very good insurance.

There's the pension, also. Quite nice.

For the "I ain't gonna pay no union to go to work" crowd, I pay ~$50 per month? I'd have to look, and that's not convenient atm. Believe me, I don't notice it. And what I get in return is so much more valuable.

So yeah. That's a job where you could make six figures a year. Some might even call it a career.

How many hours are you putting in each day/week?

Edit: Nm saw your response to that question earlier in the thread.

I can be a little more precise. I had several bids throughout the year.

Started off the year doing a straight 40. A few months later I bid on a 50-hour run. Did that most of the year. Then the last two months of the year I had a 55-hour run.

There are no feeder jobs where I'm at but they have a listing dock workers with CDLs...I'd just need to get haz. Is there a difference working for the new company TFI and working for UPS directly?

So you're looking at what used to be UPS *Freight.* I work for the parcel side of UPS.

I have heard mixed reports on what is happening at TFI. In some non-union terminals they've already cut 401k match and such (go non-union! Look at what not paying $50 per month got ya!).

At the union terminals, the company will have to abide by the terms of the contract until summer 2023. At that point, negotiations will take place.

If they're already taking away things from non-union employees during a highly profitable pandemic and "driver shortage," I don't think that bodes well for the upcoming negotiations.

I guess I'm the unicorn. I rarely work over 50 hours per week. With covid I think I'm trending towards towards 45, yet my pay has stayed the same. I knew I was riding the gravy train, but all of comments in this thread nailed it for me. $80k per year, weekends, holidays off, 4 weeks vacation, zero cost insurance and no one in here can guess the company I drive for much less the one we are contracted on to haul freight for.

Have you looked into USPS contracted haulers such as 10 Roads?. The ads usually list hourly rates.

How many hours/week do they work?

Edit: Too many for me, and I don't have a year's experience yet.
