Never stay at ANY truck stop around big cities.
I never had bad experience with parking somewhere 50+ miles from major cities.
But can count numerous weirdos I met as soon as I was hitting city gas station with population over 100k

I’ve locked myself out a few times but I always keep a spare key in the headache rack. Having a key hidden is priceless at a moment of weakness.

Couple of weeks back at Memphis, I got woken up by a guy who needed $65 to get home, he also wanted to be a truck driver and had a license issue and needed to get back home and get his license under control, so he can support his kids.
I gave him about $0.79 from my coin jar and he was looking at me funny like I owed him money. He had that “man you need to pay because you screwed my wife and now you need to give me money” look.Crusader66, blairandgretchen, homeskillet and 2 others Thank this. -

Ive never liked that Pilot. There is always something going on there. They do have a big guy in there from Mecklenburg County Sheriffs office but, all he does is flirt with the workers at Pilot and Subway. I dont even like stopping by there in my car. While im all for helping people in need, I just cant decipher them guys there at Pilot.

I don't give them money. No matter what storyline they come up with. About 20 years ago in OKC a girl came down the row of trucks telling her sob story. Claimed her boyfriend had abandoned her and needed gas money to get home. I gave her $10 . A few days later I came back through and there she was telling that same story. That was the first and last time any one got a penny from me.88228822, Rubber duck kw, Crusader66 and 5 others Thank this.

I don’t either but this time I was parked at a stop, and didn’t want him messing with my truck when I’m sleeping.
I usually park a few miles before the truck stop to get away from the idiocy.Crusader66, blairandgretchen, homeskillet and 1 other person Thank this. -
