Shutter stats were pretty cool, and it was neat to see them open an close while watching other trucks. They had a bulb mounted in the bottom of the radiator as I recall that would operate the louvers.
Kinda makes you wonder why they haven't resurrected them in northern trucks anyway.
What if it Snows?

While traveling in the right lane, minding my own, I had a PU Truck pulling a trailer box whip out from behind, boxing me in, while another idiot merging cut right in on Us. No time to hit the horn. I swerved and almost put the Truck in the ditch, waiting to hear which side hit me first. No wreck, but it was close. Had I hit the Truck, would have been my fault. Had I not swerved an accident for sure. Tough call. They both deserved to be hit, driving that way. I’m sure they both blame the Truck. Lol

A Lady with Case told me that. Had a nearly new Stockman that paper would turn the edge. Sent it to them to either replace the blades; or if that was not agreeable, send it back collect so I could have the pleasure of throwing it in my junk barrel. She called and explained due to some regs, they no longer used carbon steel in their blades, now stainless. She said: The carbon steel had minute microscopic pits in it. It COULD retain matter you cut (such as food) and it become spoiled/rancid and cause contamination of the next food you cut. Repaired the other two knives I had sent and returned all. I do not know if the blades were changed of not, but I did the potato gig and the knife does sharpen and edge better. Try it.
Your potato, heat temp, time frame, may not do a thing. Just an experience.
PS Case will replace blades, handles, and springs for very reasonable cost. Google for their address and mail them with a letter. They will write back with a quote of work to do and price.
You accept with c/card # or mail a check. They will fix and return. I have 2 or 3 Case knives. they rebuilt the are 20 year old. 3 week process before, don't know now.Last edited: Jan 9, 2022

Same here, it’s mostly a matter of cooling. My concern is the CAC getting too hot especially on hot side. That’s where they always fail on mine. I used to slide cardboard in between CAC and radiator. Plastic pallet sheet works better. Cardboard gets wet, rots the radiator. So they claim. When I’m freezing, anything will do. Light a fire in the Truck if I had to. Lol.LoSt_AgAiN, tramm01, Cowboyrich and 4 others Thank this.
